Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) is a government-owned company, where the central or state government holds 51 per cent of the total shares. A career in PSUs is highly coveted amongst engineering graduates. A good rank in GATE 2017 may land you in a reputed PSU like BHEL, ONGC, HPCL, etc. However, to get a job in such companies, it is imperative to have strong and in-depth knowledge along with the understanding of fundamental principles of engineering. GATE 2017 is one such examination that evaluates both general and technical aptitude of a candidate. PSUs recruit candidates based on their GATE score.
In a few years, PSUs have started recruiting more number of candidates and the number of recruitments has increased remarkably this year. PSU recruitment through GATE 2017 will have deserving candidates on board as GATE exam is one of the toughest exams in India.
Some PSUs recruit through GATE; however, there are certain criteria for recruitment through GATE 2017. Candidates may note that GATE 2017 scores are considered one of the most important parameters for selection in the top PSUs.
PSU Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate should have obtained a full-time degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised University/Deemed University or Institute recognised by AICTE (50% for SC/ST).
Candidates in their final year may also apply on the condition that they obtain a minimum of 60% (50% SC/ST) in their qualifying degree and furnish proof of the same.
The candidate’s age should not be more than 27 years as on January 1, 2016.
Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
Score of candidates in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineers (GATE) 2017 will be a determining factor in the selection. The graduate engineers who are interested in taking up a career in PSUs need to appear for GATE 2017 in the relevant disciplines.
Based on the GATE score, candidates will then be qualified for the next selection rounds consisting of a group discussion and group task and then finally a personal interview to assess a candidates’ understanding of different facets, skills and attitude. Candidates have to first successfully pass the GATE-2017 examination, and after that the GD/GT and PI to make it to the selection. Merit list will be prepared based on GATE score, GD/GT and PI scores, and will as per each discipline.
